Philippians 4:13

Philippians 4:13 (NIRV) I can do everything by the power of Christ. He gives me strength.

I went below and beyond yesterday and I need to share a journey with you - my friends.  After I finished my 2nd open water dive yesterday I had an epiphany - since moving to Texas I've walked closer with the Lord and through that walk I've overcome so many fears and conquered lots of obstacles that I never would have imagined accomplishing.  Every time that I've met a challenge I've carried the above verse in my head and heart.  I'm so blessed and thankful right now so I wanted to share:
#1 skiing - my fear of heights was realized and succumbed!  I wasn't beautiful wedging it down those slopes but I got on those terrifying lifts, went down those mountains and had a blast doing it.  This doesn't mean I want to sky dive or bungee jump but the fear was felt but then let go.

#2 swimming with my face in the water - We moved to Plum Creek 15 days after I had A, B told me about the triathlon that is held in the subdivision, I encouraged him to participate.  What a great way to meet people, get to know the neighborhood and take advantage of one of the many reasons that we moved to this community.  His response - why don't you do it with me.  HA!  I admit that I laughed in his face, I couldn't believe that he'd think I could do something like that.  I told him that I would do it the next year if he did it this year, you know when I wasn't 6 weeks postpartum.  Almost a year later I met Adrien Thom who taught me how to swim, taught me how to ride my bike again and encouraged me to run - so I did two triathlons that year.  It was amazing
#3 open water swimming - after I succeeded at getting my face in the water I found another feat that I needed to master, swimming in water that is not chlorinated and there are no lines on the bottom of the pool - as a matter of fact, swimming where you couldn't see the bottom! Tri It in Spanish gave me that opportunity, along with the chance to race with the donkeys!
#4 fully defeat fear of water - SCUBA!  My little brother is getting married in St. Croix - what better time is there to be able to scuba dive and fully surmount my fear of water?  I watched B get certified last year and was envious of his confidence and bravery.  Therefore, when Scott told me he was getting married in a prime scuba territory I knew what I had to do.  This weekend I have finally met this goal head on, saw some fish, some creepy sunken "treasures" and swam around, breathing underwater with my favorite 14 year old.

I know that this is a journey and I am ready to take on my next challenge, fully empowered with my beloved God.

Sherry, you have one fear you still have - geckos. By the way, I heard the water you dived in while you were in Houston for your certification was very murky. If you can see through that then you should have no problem in the crystal clear waters of St. Croix. Love, Scott
